The total number of vacancies for this year is 1102 for SSC Scientific Assistant Exam.

There are overall 3 criteria of eligibility that you need to fulfill to apply for the Scientific Assistant SSC 2017 exam. You need to qualify all these 3 criteria to prove your candidature for this exam. These 3 criteria are broadly classified into the following categories:

A. Educational Qualification:

  • 10+2 with Physics & Maths as Core Subjects

  • Minimum 60% in Bachelors of Science with Physics as one of the subjects (must be of 3 years of duration).

  • OR

  • 3 Year Diploma in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering

B. Experience Requirements:

  • No Prior Experience Required

C. Age Limit (as on 01/08/2017):

  • Minimum Age – 18 Years​
  • Maximum Age – 30 Years

D. Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST – 5 Years

  • OBC – 3 Years

  • PH – 10 Years

  • Ex-Servicemen – 3 Years

The selection of SSC Scientific Assistants will be made through the Computer Based Test.

The commission will prepare merit list which will be handed over to Indian Meteorological Department.

You will be selected through a selection procedure which consists an online Computer Based Test. This Test has 2 sections: Part I & Part II. Part I will test General Intelligence level whereas Part II will test specific subject related knowledge.

Part II of SSC Scientific Assistant will have three optional subjects:

(i) Physics

(ii) Computer Science and Information Technology

(iii) Electronics and Telecommunications.

You have the option to choose any 1 of the above 3 question papers in Part-II.

  1. Total marks (Part I & Part II) in the Computer-based Exam

  2. Marks obtained in Part II of the Computer Based Exam

  3. Marks obtained in Part I of the Computer Based Exam

  4. Date of birth, with preference to older candidates

  5. Alphabetical order of the first name as entered in the application form
